Fantastic Four: The Last Stand #1

There are some issues that would make me a bit teary.  This one just made me cry waterfalls.  I’m not that much of a Fantastic Four fan, mainly due to my strong dislike towards Reed Richards, but I did like how the series was towards this last story arc.  This special must have issue has #574, 587 and 588 of Fantastic Four.  The story of #574 was a lighthearted one about Franklin’s birthday party.  It was good to see everyone in a cheerful mood, including Spider-man.  What later happens that night brings more foreshadowing to the fate of the Future Foundation, especially the two little Richards.  #587 and #588 are where the tears start to flow.  In issue 587, Sue and Namor are trying to work things out in Atlantis, Reed is in the crumbling Nu-World, while the rest are trying to hold the fort down in the Baxter Building.  A massive amount of Insectoids are trying to enter the world from the Negative Zone and there’s no end in sight.  With the help of Franklin’s (possibly, I think) omega level powers, he is able to buy some time for people to get through… all but one.  I’m not going to be a spoiler, unless you already know what happens, but from there to the end of the story arc, you’re just going to cry like a bitch.  And there’s nothing you can fucking do about it.  The way #588 was made was really nice.  There was very little dialogue, practically the last nine pages were the only ones with speech bubbles.  You just wondered what they would or could have said.  It just let your imagination and mind linger a bit more on the emotions.  The last eight pages leaves the story a good sorta bittersweet ending.  Again, still a tearjerker.  It all leads to the first issue of FF.  I bought this at thou Shalt Game in Temecula, CA.  This must have issue is definitely a must have.
