Comic Series Feature: Pantheon’s “Persepolis”
- I first heard about this series by Marjane Satrapi when there were ads about the feature film based off of it. I found a copy of the first volume and the movie which I gave to my best friend as a Christmas gift. The two volume series is truly eye-opening. It is Satrapi’s autobiography and readers go through her complicated life as she survives the conflicts outside and inside herself. It is a first account of all of the mayhem in Iran during the discord within the country in the late 20th century. The series makes you think and reflect about your own life. Her art style maybe simplistic, but it is beautiful. There is another book collection that has both volumes in one, plus also the feature film.
