Pull List of 2-22-12

Row 1:

  1. (Marvel) Wolverine and the X-Men #6
  2. (Marvel) Avengers Academy #26
  3. (Marvel) Venom #13.3

Row 2:

  1. (DC) Green Lanterns: New Guardians #6
  2. (DC) Teen Titans #6

Row 3:

  1. (DC) Voodoo #6
  2. (DC) The Ray #3

Row 4:

  1. (DC) Justice League Dark #6
  2. (DC) I, Vampire #6

It was a light week for Marvel.  The adventures take different turns as Wolverine and Kid Omega try to win some cash in outer space and the school once again takes a beating for the team.  In Avengers Academy #26, it’s the end of the current arc, before the Runaways crash in.  It’s a deep issue and I recommend reading the After School Special.  Venom… Oh Venom #13.3.  The Circle of Four is taking readers one hell of of a ride, literally.  It’s absolutely amazing.

Kyle Rainer and some of the other lanterns are still trying to figure out the place they’re in.  The Teen Titans ask Static for help.  Voodoo kicks more ass and I hope that Chanti will beat some ass in the last issue of the Ray.  Alright for the last two, please read Justice League Dark #6 before reading I, Vampire #6.  Just read it that way and enjoy.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day.  If you didn’t, then here are some comics that might cheer you up.

This week’s Batfam comics get closer to the big cross-over event with the Court of Owls.  In Batman, Bruce somehow made it through the insanity of the labyrinth.  The previous issue was mind-blowing, and its effect still lingered in #6.  Dick gets close to figuring out the dark forces that have been plaguing him since he returned to the circus.  A very special person makes a guest appearance in this issue.  Readers learn more about how the team was made in the latest issue of Red Hood and the Outlaws.  What took me by surprise was the history revealed and kept in the rebooted universe.  What also took me by surprise was how gorgeous Jason’s nearly naked body was.  Yes, I just said that.  BTW, the Discowing suit still exists.  Rebooted, but still exists.   Selina will always be the unlucky cat.  She has too much trouble on her plate and she can only fight off as much as she can.  Even with all that, she still is a badass.  I made my decision to stick with Blue Beetle.  Jaime took some rather extreme measures to help Paco which I didn’t like, but I’m willing to stay with this series.

In Marvel, we learn more of what goes on in Horizon Lab in Amazing Spider-Man #679.1.  It goes a bit during the Spider-Island arc, but it takes a looks as some “newer” and old characters that work in the shadows of Parker. Clint is the special guest in Avenging Spider-Man #4.  I never thought that the two could work together, but they did, sorta kinda. It touches on Hawkeye’s reason why he is the way he is and I feel a bit sorry for him, but I still don’t like him.  Hell grows in Venom #13.2 as Sana Takeda draw in the interior.  It’s good to see X-23 once again in her art, but the whole issue is simply heart-breaking.  The Circle of Four event is such a dark and twisted one and I hope the team pulls through.  Finally, Bucky and Natasha work further into their mission as they try to find who bought a super soldier.  I didn’t know that there was a new issue out already, but I guess time really flies.

Pull List of 2-8-12

Row 1:

  1. (Marvel) Scarlet Spider #2
  2. (Marvel) Venom #13.1

Row 2:

  1. (DC) Batman and Robin #6
  2. (Vertigo) iZombie Vol. 3
  3. (DC) Batwoman #6

Row 3:

  1. (Marvel) Deadpool #50
  2. (Marvel) Wolverine and the X-Men #5

I love this pull list.  Kaine is finally in the suit in Scarlet Spider #2.  It’s a good series to start now.  Houston now has its own superhero.  Venom #13.1 is part 2 of the “Circle of Four” arc.  Guest appearances are made as the “team” fights off their counterparts.  All that’s left for me to say is … Alejandra.  In Batman and Robin #6, Damian is my boy!!!  I swear to God every time I open a new issue of Batman and Robin, I start to cry.  With the newest volume of iZombie, more of Gwen’s past is revealed as she and the rest of the monster crew fight for a future.  A new set of characters are added to the crazy bunch which makes it more interesting to see what’s next for the zombie.  Kate Kane is such a badass who kicks so much ass in Batwoman #6.  Amy Reeder takes over the art for this arc and I’m liking it.  The start to Deadpool’s “end” has begun.  Many characters appear in this issue, include some of my favorites.  Finally, things get crazy at Jean Grey School.  Some get microscopic while others go to space and others are substitute teachers.  I wish I could go to that school.

- One final note: See in your local comic shops if they have the new free Vertigo 2012 Preview issue.  It features four new Vertigo series with a small sneak peek for each.  Grab a copy and see what the other side of DC is making.
